The IGS Team of BIM Content Creators, Software Developers, Design Technicians, Commercial Strategy Advisers and Building Product Marketing Specialists are passionate about leveraging technology to facilitate better collaboration between Building Product Manufacturers, Architects, Engineers, Contractors and other built environment stakeholders.

Why do we do what we do?
In truth, IGS Group was conceived out of frustration, and the belief Building Product Manufacturers (BPM’s) were entitled to receive BIM content services of greater integrity than they were previously afforded.
Traditionally, the BIM Content Creation services provided to BPM’s by self-labelled ‘BIM experts’ and BIM object / content hosting websites have been objectively poor. The BIM content libraries developed for manufacturers were rarely suitable for use in real-world projects and designers were hardly ever using them. Manufacturers were wasting their money – often without realising it – and designers were lamenting the lack of BIM content they could use to deliver their projects.
The only ones benefitting were the BIM content service providers who were getting paid to create BIM content the way they felt like doing it. This was enabled by the manufacturers’ lack of domain knowledge or an ability to define their requirements.
IGS was established and taken forward by a team who had previously been on the receiving end of these sub-standard services – both as Manufacturers engaging BIM content companies, and as Architects frustrated at the poor-quality BIM solutions they were being provided.
The IGS team believe in the benefits that exist for BPM’s, building design professionals and the industry as a whole, if collaboration between suppliers and specifiers is enabled through better BIM content and superior product information exchange workflows.

Why the focus on manufacturers?
Our focus on collaborating with Building Product Manufacturers (BPM’s) is derived from our history working both with and for BPM’s in our previous professional lives, and experiencing first-hand the substandard BIM services historically provided to BPM’s by BIM content creation companies.
Developing ‘fit for purpose’ BIM content is deceptively complex. Whilst BPM’s have great intentions, they often invest in BIM content that turns out to be of little or no value to designers.
